what a way to start the weekend...

so, friday was a teacher work day... always nice, but now even better that bug goes to my school... she and i get to spend all day together. :) so while some of the other teachers were in meetings, bug got to have the whole playground to herself. she loves the swings.

then during our lunch we stopped by the "old prople thrift store" (it's attached to a retirement village), where i scored this cute apron and some ribbon and ricrac and bug got a doll... ALL FOR $1.24... HECK YEAH!!!

(this pic of the ribbon and ricrac is now the background on my phone!)
once we got home the wonderful king(ofalldrunks) took us out for dinner. as we were wandering around the streets of our little downtown afterwards we saw this neat idea (could probably be executed a bit better, but the idea is there!). it's one of the fake pumpkins, painted black with a crow on a perch inside... WITH LOTS OF RHINESTONES. :) pretty neat, may have to round up the parts to this and make one this week.

some lil projects i've been working on...

i made this lil quitie for an art quilt swap i was hosting on swap-bot... i was really happy with how it turned out and a bit sad that i had to mail it off! oh well, so it goes...
the first pic here is a close up of a felt applique with some embroidery (somehow even when i have embroidery thread with me i usually end up just doing it with normal thread... meh.).

this one is of the overall quilt, it was about 9x9 or so... (i think!)

heehee, these cuties were for a halloween themed softie swap! frankie and pinky. they are on their way (with a mutant bunny!) to the netherlands!! i'm so jealous!

a couple of food with faces plushies, an orange slice and some candy corn.

my pic of the completed ruby doll from the pattern over at one red robin has somehow disappeared i'll post it as soon as i find it again!anyways, she has already made her way to her new home where she seems loved... :)(http://oneredrobin.com/ruby-doll-patterns-and-instructions/ (that's where the pattern can be found)

this is a pic of her in progress... (on my super rad purse, hahahaha!)

and a lil colored pencil drawing of a bride of frankenstein...

(advance apology for crappy cell phone pic)

meet loretta... yes, she is indeed the girl on the moon from the high life bottles (the miller witch to some). she is my newest tattoo as of sunday night, as always done by the amazing jorge at trinity tattoo (407-659-0000). my boyfriend also got her (technically the mirror image of her), i was a bit worried about the matching tattoo type curses you hear about... but he pointed out "it's not like we got names or anything." we already have drunken bottle rocket shooting monkeys, so not like this could be any worse right? ;)

grrrr...

ok, not that i'm saying i am perfect or anything. i would never even hint at any such thing. i know my blatant disregard for capitalization probably drives some to the brink. i do it intentionally, aesthetically lowercase letters are more appealing to me. one thing i cannot handle is poor grammar... especially when it is by a teacher. a car that i tend to park next to now and then at work (a school), has this proudly displayed on the front bumper. REALLY? this is the best you can do? let's ignore the puctuation error (pretty sure sentences starting with "who" should end in a question mark...) and just focus on the word "mommy's"... so... does the "can't" belong to the "mommy"? ugh. i know that part of teaching elementary grammar is to emphasize that adding an apostrophe s makes things posessive, not plural. anyways, just venting... i am sure this post is riddled with grammatical errors and for that i apologize. believe me, it hurts me more than it hurts you. ;)

because saltwater tanks make me happy...

these are just a few phone pics i took last night of the 2 saltwater tanks we have at my house... a 55 gallon one in my bedroom and a 90 gallon one in the living room... we are keeping the pretty low key till they are REALLY established and only have damsels in them currently... oh and a couple of lil blennies, and a LOT of crabs.
a few of the corals in the 90...
a damsel and some lil anemones in the 90...
a damsel in the 55 that couldn't stand that i wasn't taking his picture...
super cool landmine urchin... the lil guy is super hardy...
funny lil blenny type guy caught off my parents' dock (the smaller of 2)
big old crab caught off their dock too...

some SIMPLE biscornu patterns i designed...

here ya go all... free patterns designed by me, shared with you... have fun!! if you make 'em maybe email me a pic, or link to one in a comment. :)

fire themed biscornu...

so... seems like about this time every year i think i wanna cross stitch... knowing my short attention span i sign up for biscornu swaps... like this one... http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/39524 i love doing it for about 3/4 of the way thru the first half... then i get a little fussy, but refuse to quit... the whole time jason makes fun of me for signing up for yet another cross stitch swap and reminding me how frustrated i got last time... blah blah blah... so anyways... i was really excited about the theme... and this is what i ended up with. (i think these show quite clearly why i am more of a visual artist... i have to make up my own patterns and just can't let good enough alone...)

sigh... dreams of a storefront...

with the umm... bazillions... of records the king and i now own (there's literally over 10,000) the idea of opening a store keeps coming up. the idea of a place to sell records, vintage treasures and artwork (of my own and friends) is one of the most exciting things i can think of!! so i have become obsessed with a storefront. this one in particular:

it's only about 4 blocks from our house, and less than a block from where herschell gordon lewis filmed 2,000 maniacs... how perfect?
the interior needs a bit of work, but not much... the new neighbors are a tattoo studio and it is 2 doors down from our favorite dive bar. the king keeps telling me we should wait till after the first of the year... I WANT IT NOW. probably why he's the one who thinks things through and i'm the impetuous one. sigh.

sparkly dollar tree skulls

did these one day this week, super simple... SUPER CHEAP!! found these cool glittered skulls at the dollar tree and just added dia de los muertos designs using acrylic paints and sharpies... they have both been sent to canada to live. :)
