some summer silliness.

so one day we were out driving around (ok, really we had seen someone selling cellos on craigslist for like $30 and thought it would be funny to string one as an upright bass for bug...) and ended up in the parking lot of what i seem to remember being a dentists' office (it shared the lot with the music store that was fresh outta cellos. bastards.), where we found this great bear... kinda looks like it may have been yogi's buddy booboo in a former life?
this lil darlin' is miss patsy swine... she was yet another craigslist score... someone was GIVING AWAY three, yes THREE, potbellied pigs... being the portrait of self-control we went over there and managed to only come home with one. the hippie girl we get her from called her "shroom" (molly and chicken were the other 2 pigs names) we decided we would not be naming her 'shroom and put out the request to our dear friends for name suggestions... carrie faye came up with "patsy swine" and won. we were actually at the hank 3 show drinking with johnny paycheck's son, beau, so patsy swine seemed quite fitting.
patsy has proven to be the silliest pet EVER. how often do YOU have to scold a pig for running thru the sliding glass door and eating all the dogs' food? i have to daily... so strange. she and the ducks spend all day peacefully grazing in the backyard.
and that brings us to this little monster... his name is vato (yup, as in a mexican gangster). he is about 11 pounds of spoiled ass chihuahua (pronounced cha-hoo-ah-hoo-ah). bug and i saw him at the pound one day after we were at the pool. i sent jason a pic of him and told him there was a chihuahua and a ferret and that i was bringing one home, and he said "you know i don't want no damn ferret" heehee. bug would later use that when my mom asked why i got another dog. "because jason doesn't like ferrets" HAHAHAHAHAHA.

matryoshka ornaments

**apparently my phone has forgotten how to rotate images**

i made these little ladies for a swap i'm hosting on swap-bot (http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/43585)... simple little felt ornies ranging from about 2.5" to 4" or so. made up my own "pattern" (read: pretty much cut felt pieces till they fit)... pretty easy, super cute, i think they'll look adorable on a tree. :)

PINK ornies!!!!

so, this week i joined this... http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/41167 ... and then i made these silly lil pink felt ornies... as you can probably tell by now i ADORE felt... it is such an underrated and versatile medium!! it is truly one of my favorites... i am lucky to have a couple of die cut machines at work and TONS of dies to choose from, so i took my pink felt up there and came back with stars and squirrels... a bit of stitchin' and stuffin' later and voila!!

Nesties! kinda loosely matryoshka based...

These first pics are of the nesting dolls i did for this swap-bot swap, http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/43562 , they are from maize hutton's cute pattern (http://www.maizehutton.com/matryoshkadoll.html) but with a halloween theme. The backs are done in the alexander henry skullfinity fabric.

These were my first idea for the nesties... they will accompany the skull set to their destination... i really liked the idea of the bat->skull->candy corn->pumpkin idea, but then wondered if i shouldn't have gone more traditional and made the set that started this post. damn ole second guessing myself.

silly felt zombie girl...

made this lil zombie for the same swap as the zombie girl featured below... it'll go with her when she gets mailed off to a new home so she won't be lonely... it was just my version of the zombie ninja ya see on the interwebs. :)

made this lil lady for a swap-bot swap... nothing overly special.. felt... red chenille stems (pipecleaners!) in the arms, legs and neck so if you cut the "skin" she's nice and gory underneath... of yeah, they make her pretty posable too...

More crappy cell pics of summertime projects...

first we have a silly tiny kitty made of felt, it's actually dark purple with pink stripes and is about 2" long... very cheshire inspired...
a rescued altered goodwill tiki... just did some distressing, ok a lot of distressing, and some sharpie for contrast...
an in progress pic of a painting i did for a misfits fiend (a friend's son) for his birthday... this was pretty early in the process...
some YUMMY fabric i bought at the CHA supershow...

a flannel dance bag i made for my daughter (and a matching one for her best friend)...

alice paper doll for a swap-bot swap... the hair and clothing are all felt...
